The weather here on Nantucket has simply been beautiful, crisp fall air, and brilliant blue skies. October is a great time to visit Nantucket and truly enjoy the natural beauty without the crowds. Shop the local stores and dine out to meet some of the locals and find out why they love Nantucket so much. Have you ever visited Nantucket after Labor Day? What did you think? Do you like visiting the island when it’s hopping with visitors during the summer months or do you enjoy visiting the island when it’s less crowded and more relaxed?

A perfect place to enjoy the amazing statues representing life on Nantucket. This one is one of my favorites as the children look so realistic. The grass is nice and green and it is the perfect space to toss a Frisbee around and have a little fun! There is plenty of space between statues so you could also bring a picnic basket and enjoy a nice relaxing afternoon with your favorite book and some good food! Has anyone read any really good books lately? I just finished reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak which I really enjoyed but now I’m looking for another good book to read. Any suggestions?

Come out to the Festival grounds and watch the berries being harvested, learn about the history of cranberry farming on Nantucket, participate in the family activities or just kick back and enjoy the music and the spectacular autumn scenery of one of the most unique and beautiful places on our Island. Don’t forget to bring home a pound, or two, of Nantucket Cranberries for the Holidays and try our recipe at the end of this article….

On September 19th and 20th the Nantucket Island Fair delivered another fun filled day for family and friends. The island event resembles that of a traditional country fair and brings out a true community spirit.
This event was held at Tom Nevers Field and there was something for everyone! We really enjoyed the Fairy House contest as well as Gertrude’s Harvest Exhibition, where local islanders showcased their hand made and home grown talents.
