Daffodil Festival Weekend – April 27th – April 29th, 2018
The Nantucket Daffodil Festival has grown into a full-scale celebration of winter´s thaw and this year everyone is ready for some beautiful weather and spring flowers. From early-April to mid-May, over three million daffodils of every color, shape and size will bloom on Nantucket Island.
The central event of this fun-filled weekend is the Antique Car Parade, showcasing over 100 vintage cars all decked out with sunny yellow daffodils and other creative embellishments. Don’t miss their arrival on Main Street at 9:30 a.m on Saturday, April 29th. Vote for Most Authentic, Best Decorated, People’s choice & Best in Show and don’t forget to take some group selfies!
At 12:00 p.m., the antique cars wind through town to the charming village of Siasconset for the Annual Daffodil Tailgate Picnic, attended by visitors and locals alike. Enjoy an al fresco lunch, relax by the sea, and mingle with both islanders and visitors. The picnics run the gamut from elaborate haute cuisine to traditional tailgate food. Didn’t prepare any food – grab some takeout fare but don’t miss the Daffodil Tailgate Picnic. For a complete schedule of Daffodil Events visit www.daffodilfestival.com
Top 5 Daffodil Festival Activities:
1) Pick out a really cute outfit to wear to the Antique Car Parade and Daffodil Tailgate!
The weekend is characterized by the colors yellow and green – so look for these colors when deciding what to wear. Shades of yellow and beige is also a great choice. Many people dress in a classic style but we suggest a comfortable casual attire that you will feel comfortable in all day! Remember to wear comfortable shoes that will be good on cobblestones, sand, and lush lawns.
2) Make your own Daffy Hat (just add a Daffodil or two) or Headband. Many islanders and visitors make Daffy Hats which makes it that much more fun! If you’re not a hat person you may want to consider a headband like the one shown below.
