I couldn’t resist cutting a few of the blue hydrangea from my backyard to display in an old Nantucket basket on our deck. They are one of my favorite shrubs on the island because they are so easy to grow! And if you want more of them – no need to buy them – just take a few shoots (roots and all with a spade) from a larger shrub and plant it in another area of your garden. The hydrangea blooms from early summer to fall. They enjoy partial shade and will wilt in full sun. If you see that your hydrangeas are wilting they probably need a little H2O. Hydrangeas offer an endless summer of color to your garden without a lot of work, which is why you see so many around the island.
