    The Bean Coffee Shop

    Aug 12 2014 Leave a Comment

One of our favorite places to grab a Cup of Joe is at The Bean Coffee Shop.  A charming coffee shop located in the Heart of Nantucket, The Bean is a fixture of island life for locals and visitors alike.  The Bean is open Sunday – Thursday 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday – Saturday 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  They specialize in expresso based drinks but you can choose a fantastic house blend coffee or a single origin bean, individually extracted and brewed with a Trifecta automatic french press.  I learned from the locals…that they encourage you to be “green” by offering a small discount for those who bring their own coffee tumblers.  A good 16 oz stainless steel one is the perfect size to kick start your day and if you don’t have one you can purchase one from them for around $20.00.  The Bean is fairly small inside and can get quite busy.  Their sign that reads: “Enter as Strangers, Leave as Friends” is literally true because you never know who you might meet or run into while you are there.  They do have a few tables where you can sit and enjoy your coffee and pastry (recommended) while checking your email on their free WiFi.  However, we like to get our coffee to go and drive down to Brant Point to watch the sailboats come and go – there’s really no better way to enjoy a morning coffee!  What I really enjoy about this coffee shop is the friendly staff, the large selection of coffees, teas, and pastries and all the lovely antique coffee and tea pots displayed high on a shelf it gives the small shop great character.
