A favorite place for visitors with young children. The Jetties beach has a nice long sandy beach, calm waters, the Jetties Beach Bar and Restaurant, and public rest rooms. Just a short distance from the town – this beach is popular for July 4th, the Boston Pops, and the annual sandcastle and sculpture event in mid August.

Love of Fair
Nantucket homes are amazingly beautiful because most home owners just love to add lovely nautical décor as a nod to our Nantucket Whaling past-time. Just walk down almost any side street and you will find homes with scallop shell door knockers, sea shells in the window sills, Nantucket baskets filled with hydrangeas, pretty quarter-board signs that gives the home a special name (like the one pictured above). We love these extra homey touches that make Nantucket a special place to visit.

Opera House Cup Regatta – August 19, 2018
Every year in the third weekend of August, the island of Nantucket, hosts the Opera House Cup, the second leg of the North American Circuit of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge. Spectators from all over come to the island to watch this event. For more information on this event please visit: www.operahousecup.org
The Opera House Cup takes its name from the eponymous venue whose owner, in 1973, had the idea of organizing the first all-wooden sail boats, single-hulled classic boat regatta on the East Coast. It is the oldest regatta of this kind to take place along the East Coast of the United States and attracts some of the finest sailboats in the world.
Each year, a large fleet of vintage boats gathers, giving life to a unique and thrilling spectacle against the backdrop of the picturesque heart of Nantucket. The luxury Italian timepiece manufacturer, Panerai is the title sponsor of the Opera House Cup.
We just had to post this amazing drone video by TakeFlight Video of the Rainbow Parade and the Nantucket Lightship leaving the dock prior to the start of the Opera House Cup Regatta, August 17, 2014. This has to be one of the best videos we have ever seen. Click HERE to see the video.

July 4th on Nantucket
Not even the gray skies would put a damper on the July 4th Water Fight on Main Street. Hundreds of people showed up on Main Street to take in the morning activities: face painting, sand art, the bicycle parade, the dunk tank, watermelon eating contests, and the spectacular 15-minute water fight between two fire trucks and their giant hoses!
The crowd gets a warm 4th of July welcome!
The American Flag is Raised.
Children Enjoy Getting Their Faces Painted.
The Watermelon Eating Contest begins. Who doesn’t love watermelon???
The water gun fight starts here and then becomes the fire truck water fight. This is where its all happening but if you don’t want to get soaking wet then watch from a distance! Otherwise – Have FUN and get WET! We think the three people on the roof top have the best view in town.
The Antique Fire Truck arrives on Main Street and the great Fire Truck Water Fight begins!
We decide to watch from a distance! Next year we will come prepared to get soaking wet in our Nantucket 4th of July t-shirts. We hope you will join us!
Pink Peony Perfection
The fattest and most scrumptious of all flowers, a rare fusion of fluff and majesty, the peony is now coming into bloom. –Henry Mitchell, American writer (1923-93)
Peony blooms are magnificently beautiful in the Spring, with lush foliage all Summer long. These perennials may live longer than you do. The plants require little maintenance as long as they are planted properly and establish themselves. …
