Island Inspired Florals
Fresh from the garden. This year we’re going to continue to see organic bouquets, centerpieces and garlands, all of which have tremendous staying power. Stylish brides are opting for large, lush, loose bouquets that are aesthetically organic and look simply gorgeous in photos. For brides, there is nothing quite like clutching a bouquet filled with fresh, fragrant flowers grown with love and harvested by hand by a local floral designer or farmer with whom they have a personal connection.
Pantone’s 2017 color of the year, Greenery, is a refreshing and revitalizing shade that is symbolic of new beginnings. How appropriate for a wedding but if you haven’t seen this color trend, you may be surprised by it’s vibrant, bright hue. We believe that green will continue to be reflected in weddings, but in subtle, and less literal and overtly obvious ways. Greenery can be incorporated in many creative ways, such as garlands of foliage stretching down the middle of banquet tables, sprigs of greens adorning place settings, greenery woven through chandeliers, and chair decor and foliage backdrops for ceremony sites.
Luxe ribbons. Brides are looking for ways to make their bouquet more meaningful or stand out in a special way. By adding a unique element such as ultra-luxe hand-died silk ribbon streamers or a cameo portrait or charm from a loved one that the bride would like to honor makes the ceremony even more personal.
Stylish floral wearables. Subtle, delicate floral hair accessories will be a big trend this year. We’ll see more pretty floral hair combs and simple sprigs of foliage woven artfully into hairstyles and delicate half halos. Keep an eye out for elegant cuff wrist corsages that look and feel more like jewelry as well as other creative interpretations of traditional floral wearables for the Mother of the Bride, grandmothers and other wedding party attendants. For the guys, this will mean mixing more interesting textural elements, including pods, berries & grasses alongside traditional focal flowers.
Modern décor aesthetic. Nantucket’s timeless beauty is the perfect place for the ultimate beach wedding. White anemones, loads of greenery, and teal ribbon make for a dreamy sea-inspired wedding. Capture the easy-breezy vibe of your surroundings with a ceremony arch of branches and vines (think organic and asymmetrical) that will perfectly frame the exchange of vows, add glass lanterns (or glass hurricanes) with white candles along the aisle and greenery galore and you won’t be disappointed! Many Bride’s and Groom’s are opting for simple clean lines and modern chic decor.
